New Delhi: Representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) are expected to visit areas affected by the unknown Waterborne disease that took lives of more than a hundred thousand people across the nation. This deadly disease is spreading in no time directly through the drinking water and the food cooked using contaminated water.
According to the government data, 1213 people lost their lives including a two years old child who died yesterday in a private hospital here in the city. All the public and private hospitals are filled with the patients showing similar disease symptoms, across the nation.
Yesterday the health ministry, in a circular banned the use of Bore well water and packaged drinking water after the laboratory of AIIMS reports alarming level of contamination in them. Secretary of the ministry strictly advised the citizens to use pure water distributed via government agencies only. "Ban of using or even touching water from various natural sources like rivers, ponds, and wells will be continued till further notice" he added.
Yesterday, the prime minister also expressed his worries about the increasing death toll. He appealed the citizens to take atmost care. "The government will soon launch a scheme to distributed pure water through Public Distribution System (PDS). All the BPL card holders will be eligible to get water for RS.50 per liter" He said.
Researchers across the world are working hard to elucidate the cause of the new waterborne disease and many of them are nearing to the success. "Finding the disease-causing agent is just the preliminary phase of our research, we are almost there. Our real aim is to develop drugs and treatment methods for this disease" said one of the leading scientist of AIIMS, New Delhi.

Yes, This is a cooked up news and it seems highly exaggerated. But, When someone said "packaged drinking water" few decades ago, people laughed at him incredulously. Now we are hearing the news about, Multinational Companies are planning to sell oxygen bottles here in India. Yes, whatever we thought to be free for use are no longer free.
Water is contaminated exponentially along with the soil and air. Our Rivers are dying due to the City life, industries and agriculture. Unscientific digging of septic tanks are contaminating wells and ponds. Flora and fauna of water bodies are rapidly disappearing. The millimeters of downpour that we get, seeks a new low number every year. But, do we really care about these? No, we are just growing in population without thinking about any long term remedies for these issues. Poisoning of drinking water and the droughts happening in every year are creating a new water conundrum.
People are already in fight and kill for water. Large scale protests are happening in connection with inter-state river water disputes. People are asking government to rethink over providing water of river Sindhu to Pakistan. China is planning to construct huge dams in the tributaries of Brahmaputra river. But still we hesitate to think about a world war for water! And still we hesitate to say a word against polluting water.
It is believed that life was first formed in water. If we continue to pollute "our precious" like this, life will be washed out from the earth by water itself.
